Basic First Aid Training
The Basic First Aid course helps students develop basic first aid knowledge, skills, and the confidence to respond.
Who is this qualification for?
This qualification has been developed for those already working, or preparing to work, in the industry and who have been identified in the company’s first aid risk assessment as being required to provide first aid in the workplace.
How long will it take?
This international qualification would be typically delivered to learners through a 1-day training course (6 hours).
Topics covered
Topics covered include the role and responsibilities of a first aider, assessing an incident, unresponsive casualties (breathing and not breathing), choking, shock and minor injuries.
Assessment method
This qualification is assessed by a practical demonstration and written/oral questioning.
Who is this qualification for? This qualification is aimed at providing candidates with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to support Best First aid and the use of a defibrillator in the workplace. How long will it take? To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake approximately 18 hours of learning. Topics covered Qualification content includes: roles and responsibilities of a first aider, assessing incidents, managing causalities who are: unresponsive and not breathing, managing casualties in shock, administering first aid to causalities with suspected: head, spinal, chest injuries, with burns, scalds, eye injuries, and those suffering from sudden poisoning and anaphylaxis, as well as knowing how to safely use an automated external defibrillator. Assessment method This qualification is assessed by practical and knowledge assessments.

This qualification is aimed at organizations and individuals requiring Emergency First Aid training for a workplace where people of all ages regularly attend. This course includes the emergency action for adult, child and infant CPR and choking.
